A szerző új gazdaságföldrajzi alapokon elemzi a városok kialakulását és fejlődését. Az elméleti háttér rövid ismertetése után a transznacionalizáció és az információs és kommunikációs technológiai (IKT) forradalom tükrében átértékelésre kerülnek a centripetális és centrifugális erők. Az írás fő állítása szerint az új információs és kommunikációs technológia terjedése, a gazdaság szektorainak átalakulása nemcsak eltérően hat a fejlett, illetve a fejlődő országokban, hanem azok hatása a városokra, kifejezetten a legnagyobb városokra koncentrálódik. Az első részben bemutatott klasszikus elméletek és a második részben értelmezett napjainkban zajló folyamatok szembeállításából értelmezhető az agglomerálódás klasszikus és új logikája. Végül a szerző a gazdaságpolitika szempontjából értékeli a bemutatott változások jelentőségét.*

Classical and new logic of agglomeration
Synopsis: 

The paper analyses the emergence and development of cities in the approach of new economic geography (NEG). After a short presentation of the theoretical background the traditional centripetal and centrifugal forces are re-considered in the light of transnationalization and new information and communication technologies (ICT). The main hypothesis of the article is that the spread of new ICT and the transformation of economic sectors (emergence of the new economy) has not just different effects in developed and developing countries, but the effects in the latter are concentrated in those biggest cities. The presented traditional NEG theories contrasted with the processes of the emerging new economy shed light on the classical and new logic of agglomeration. Finally some policy implications are drawn.
