A jelenlegi pénzügyi, gazdasági válság kapcsán ismételten reflektorfénybe került a protekcionizmus kérdése. A hazai termelők védelme, előnyben részesítése másokkal szemben, ez az a recept, amelyet elvileg szinte mindenki elvet, a gyakorlatban azonban igen sokan alkalmazzák. A cikk első részében a szerző áttekinti a különböző „izmusok” gazdaságtörténeti gyökereit és rámutat: a protekcionizmus és patriotizmus közötti megkülönböztetés elég nehezen védhető. A következőkben bizonyítja, hogy nem véletlen a jelenlegi válság idején a piacvédelmi törekvések megerősödése, hiszen a 80-as évek vagy a 2000 körüli válságok idején a maihoz igen hasonló módon reagáltak a kormányok. Végül a szerző felhívja a figyelmet arra, hogy az erősödő protekcionizmus nemcsak kereskedelempolitikai zavarokhoz vezet, hanem felerősíti az Európai Unión belüli feszültségeket is.

Crisis handling and protectionism
Synopsis: 

As a result of the current financial, economic crisis, the question of protectionism became a hot topic once again. The recipe that is, by principle, rejected by all, but is nevertheless followed by many in practice, is the protection and preference of homeland manufacturers to others. The first part of the article gives an overview of the economic roots of the different „isms” and points out that one can hardly defend the difference between protectionism and patriotism. Further, it understates that, in the present crisis, the reinforcement of the market protection efforts is not accidental, as the reaction of governments to the crisis of the ‘80-s or around the year 2000 was very much similar to what we are currently witnessing. Finally, the study drives the reader’s attention to the fact that the intensifying protectionism does not only lead to disturbances in trade policies, but also emphasizes the tensions within the European Union
