A magyar–kínai kapcsolatok immáron több mint hat évtizedes múltra tekintenek vissza, melynek során fellendülés és visszaesés fázisai követték egymást, részben a két ország belső folyamataira reagálva, részben a nemzetközi környezet hatásainak meg felelően, azonban az új évezred a kapcsolat látványos és sok szempontból egyedülálló fejlődését hozta magával. Az elmúlt egy évtized magyar kormányai – pártállástól függetlenül – elkötelezték magukat a kínai kapcsolat fejlesztése mellett, hiszen a hatalmas és töretlen gazdasági fejlődés, a nemzetközi szerep erősödése és a válságból való gyors kilábalás olyan hatalommá emelték Kínát, amelyet ma már nem lehet figyelmen kívül hagyni. A kétoldalú kereskedelem és tőkebefektetések terén szép eredményeket tudunk felmutatni, amelyek érthető módon további várakozá- sokat táplálnak: az infrastruktúra-fejlesztésen át az államadósság finanszírozásáig ma egyre több területen találkozunk a potenciális vagy áhított kínai szerepvállalással. Hogy hazánk valóban Kína európai hídfőállása lesz-e, még nem eldöntött tény, de országaink kétségkívül jó úton haladnak.

The new phase of the Hungarian-Chinese economic relations: achievements and expectations
Synopsis: 

The Hungarian-Chinese relation has a history of six decades. During this period, stages of prosperity and recession followed each other, partly due to the internal processes of the two countries and partly due to the effects of the international environment. However, after the new millennium, the relationship started to develop in a unique and spectacular way. Over the past decade, the Hungarian governments– regardless of political orientation – are committed themselves to develop the relationship with China, as – due to the huge and steady economic development, the strengthening international role, or the rapid recovery from the crisis – China was raised to a power which cannot be ignored anymore. Hungary has good achievements in the field of bilateral trade and investment with China which led to further expectations: infrastructure development or financing of Hungarian public debt are just some of the areas where Chinese involvement is expected or achieved already. It is still an open question, whether Hungary will be the European bridgehead of China, but there is no doubt that the two countries are on the right track.
